Risk vs. Reward

No matter how you look at it the risks are higher with less potential reward when using adverts or agencies to recruit senior positions.

Senior level Management professionals are often very reluctant to respond to adverts or register with agencies for obvious reasons. However, let us say that some of your management team are reading adverts and registering with agencies on an ongoing basis. Do they represent the best 10% of your company? Hopefully the answer is no as it will be for the majority of successful companies. The main thing to consider here is that up to 90% of the market will never hear about your opportunity.

Please consider also that the up-front costs of adverts, large agency retainers and a high proportion of failed ad campaigns make traditional methods of recruiting an expensive and high risk business. An agency can add new candidates to their database at a client's expense without recruiting a single person.
